SARAH MANSOURI

Holistic health therapist & yoga teacher,
L.A & Stockholm

Hello Sarah,  how are you doing, and what are you up to today?

I’m good, thanks! I’m currently in a vacay mode, roadtrippin’ around northern California. It’s amazing!

Tell us about yourself and your background; where did you grow up, where are you based now and what do you do for a living?

I have dual citizenship (American/Swedish) and grew up in Linköping in Sweden. If you look at my resume, you’ll see I’ve done a thousand very very different things over the years. Everything from working with customer service for Greenpeace in New Zealand to working as a radio host in Sweden. I’m currently based in southern California and working remotely with my business as a yoga teacher as well as a holistic health and lifestyle therapist.

Tell us more about your business! What kind of help do you offer your clients?

I help my clients reaching a healthier and happier life with more energy by giving tailor made health and lifestyle recommendations. Working the holistic way means seeing the whole - everything is connected: body, mind, spirit and emotions.

For example, many people have gut health or skin issues, which usually is a symptom caused by poor nutrition, stress and/or toxins in the body. I find the root cause to your symptoms and help you ease your pain and issues. Every person is unique and there’s no “one size fits all” here. So it’s about finding a way to live, eat, workout, sleep etc, that works for you and your body.

What made you decide to start your own business, and how has it been so far?

Well, I love to be able to work for myself and being able to work from wherever I want in the world. But the biggest reason I started my own business was because I wanted to help others reach their goals and dreams as well as leading a healthy and happy life!

So you’ve been in California for a while now – how come you chose Cali, and what’s your favorite thing with living there?

Honestly, the weather! I get so depressed in Sweden during the winter when it’s so dark and cold! So escaping that for sunny California was a great decision for me for sure.

Is there anything you miss with Sweden?

The hotel breakfasts! In Swedish hotels there’s such a good spread of healthy vegan and gluten free options. Here in USA it’s just processed meat and pancakes, sort of. I’ve noticed that even if you ask for vegan breakfast ahead, they won’t accommodate you. I’m lucky if I just get a cup of tea for breakfast here!

You’ve been vegan for half of your life, and on your Instagram account you share a lot of nice food and recipes – what’s one dish you’ve eaten while traveling that you will never forget?

Oh there are so many to choose from! Bali is the best place I’ve been to food wise! There is so much yummy vegan food everywhere and tempeh and tofu is part of the food culture there. One dish I’ll never forget was vegan chicken drumsticks from Down to Earth cafe in Ubud! But also a Big Mac I found in Plymouth, southern England. It really tasted like the real deal! I’ll never forget the taste of Big Mac after 10 years without it.

Can I say a dessert too? Because I have to say the frozen yoghurt from Yorica in London! I went there all the time when I lived there. All vegan place with so many options!

What's your favorite piece from the Henry Rude collection and why?

Wow, there’s loads to choose between. But I do wear my black beanie with the Henry Rude logo on all the time! I always have it with me in my bag. It’s comfy and goes with everything. Another favourite is the grey sweater with the smiley on. It’s something I can wear both when I want to look good AND feel good.

What song are you currently listening to on repeat?

Dead Astronauts - Favourite Lover. You HAVE TO listen to it, it’s so freaking good! I listen to it every morning to get pumped up for the day ahead.
